It lies between Sologne and Sancerrois, very close to the area which inspired the authors Alain Fournier and Marguerite Audoux. You will be very warmly welcomed by the owners, Etienne and Marie de saporta. During your stay, be it of one or several nights, you will be either housed in their 18th century home or in their guest house which is an entirely renovated building. Comfortable guest rooms await you to further help you to appreciate the natural beauty of this area in the Berry. The Verrerie d'Ivoy is situated in close proximity to the beautiful Chateau de la Verrerie and has very close links to the latter. In the beginning of the last century, these two estates were one! It was the site of the Forges and the production of glass. This was an activity which was at its peak in the 19th century under the impetus of one of its owners, Leonce de Vogue. The main buildings of the Verrerie d'Ivoy remain as a visible testimony to the disappearance of the industrial heritage. During your stay, the history of the area will be gladly revealed to you by your hosts as well as the Provencales origins of the saporta, not forgetting of course, to unveil the bounties of the Berry. | |
