Truffle festival with its culinary symposium of foie gras and truffle:3rd week-end in January, every year. During this week end, a lot of activities are organized centred on this emblematic mushroom. Different workshops are opened to the public such as the big truffle market. Truffles searching by trained dogs takes place Place du Peyrou twice a day. If you want to taste, the Sarlat’s chefs sell their “Croustoux” (some kind of french tapas) with truffles. Cooking workshops are opened to all by groups of 8 persons with a chef in order to concoct some truffle dishes. The Domaine Lacoste is partner of the truffe festival in Sarlat ! Firstly, there is the market (Wednesdays and Saturdays) which brings the best of the local produce to the town. During the rest of the week there is an excellent covered market (converted by the famous architect, Jean Nouvel). Then there are the shops specializing in local produce, adorning their shelves with foies gras and other invitations into the world of gastronomy. We quickly realize the deep desire the people of Sarlat have to celebrate the exceptional produce which comes from their land. These moments of conviviality are appreciated throughout the year. They begin in the winter, when the Perigourdian Black Truffle and Foie gras production is in season, but continues in the spring through to autumn as nature is generous throughout the year. All good food lovers should note these dates in their diary and above all come here to enjoy moments of pure happiness. Market of the Land savors and know-how in Perigord (2nd Sunday of october) Fiestas gastronómicasAl visitar Sarlat, resulta muy claro que aquí todo tiene un vínculo con la gastronomía. Primero, el mercado (el miércoles por la mañana y el sábado todo el día) que propone los mejores productos locales. El resto de la semana, puede disfrutar también del mercado cubierto (antigua iglesia parroquial Santa María restaurada por el famoso arquitecto Jean Nouvel) que ofrece también lo mejor de la gastronomía local. Luego, se encuentran las tiendas especializadas en productos locales que invitan a los placeres de la gastronomía con todas sus variedades de « foie gras » en escaparate. Así, uno realiza muy rapidamente el deseo muy profundo de los habitantes de Sarlat por celebrar los fabulosos productos de su tierra. Aquí, nos gustan tanto estos momentos calurosos y simpáticos que queremos repetirles todo el año. Empieza en invierno durante el alta temporada de la Trufa negra del Perigord ; sigue en primavera y hasta en otoño ya que aquí la naturaleza resulta muy generosa a lo largo del año.
