As every year, the commune of Saint-Etienne de Tinée organizes its traditional Feast of the Shepherds and the Transhumance where many animations are proposed to you, punctuated by the arrival of the herds and their shepherds in the early morning. When all the herds of the Tinée valley meet for the most beautiful pastoral festival of summer before joining the green pastures of altitude... On this day, the village is only a celebration, music, entertainment for young and old, to celebrate an ancestral tradition that unites men, animals and nature... All day long, you will meet old crafts, farm work as in the past and artisan exhibitions, taste the local products, visit the museums, chapels and their frescoes that make up the riches of this village. The lakes of vens

Wonderful hike of 6 to 7 hours of walk
From the start the path rises in laces between shrubs and stones. Once this climb steep enough we reach a grassy flat, from here the climb will go smoothly to the forest houses (2252m). At this point we are in a small valley and discover before us the jagged needles of Tortisse. To reach these, we will have to cross a torrent and climb up a good path to the Iron Pass. By an ascending crossing we arrive at a small pass (2591m) at the foot of the needles of Tortisse. Once the descent begins it is with amazement that we discover a succession of lakes with on a rocky bar dominating the largest of the lakes caf shelter of Vens (2380m). We go down to this one, continue the path towards the lake and go along it, then we leave the path and take the time to discover all the other lakes, torrents and waterfalls. We will have to join the trail that we left and at the 23 marker fork on our right in direction of the forest houses of Torttisse (if you continue straight you will end up in the car park of Vens). When we arrive at these we find the itinerary borrowed from the ascent. This is the end of this hike to one of the most beautiful sites of Mercantour. [-] |
